College Foundation

The College Foundation assists with the advancement of the College as an educational institution.

The Foundation is a resource centre for friendraising and fundraising programs and events, parent community and Old Boy (Alumni) liaison and engagement, relationship management as well as various Foundation communications.

The Foundation works very closely with the Parents and Friends Association (P&F), the St Augustine’s Old Boys Association (SAOBA), College staff and friends of the College.

Our Purpose

The College Foundation was established in 2013 to assist in the provision of ongoing financial support and resources so that the College can continue to offer young men a high quality Catholic education in the Augustinian tradition.

The role of the St Augustine’s Foundation is to engage the College community to assist in maintaining, developing and delivering exceptional educational outcomes through:

  • The creation of a steady and reliable stream of gifts and donations by active fundraising to support the Foundation through the following funds:
    • Foundation Ancillary Fund to assist other areas of need at the College at the discretion of the Foundation.
    • Foundation Bursary Fund to assist students on means-tested bursaries.
    • Foundation Building Fund for capital works and building development.
  • The provision of a structured and ongoing parent, Old Boy (Alumni), staff and friends’ network to communicate and engage these groups with upcoming plans and College activities.
  • The promotion of effective College community relations.
  • The active encouragement of our College community to consider making a bequest to the College.

Our People

The Foundation Committee directs and supports the work of the College Foundation represented by College current and past parents, Old Boys and College staff. The inaugural Foundation Chairman was Old Boy and Past Parent Dr Michael Armstrong who held the role from 2013 to 2015. Past Parent Ian Ritchie was Chairman from 2016 to 2019 and Past Parent Gabrielle McKinnon was Chair in 2020. Old Boy and Current Parent Steve Schofield was appointed the 4th Chair of the Foundation in May 2021. The Foundation Patron is former College Principal John O’Brien.

Foundation Companions

An eclectic and valued group of Old Boys, past and current parents and friends of the College have been invited to the role of a Foundation Companion. They all have an affection and a strong connection to the College and share a passion and enthusiasm for our future and wellbeing. Companions are ambassadors of the College and help ensure we thrive, as well as securing the future of our boy’s education, whilst they embody the Augustinian spirit.

Make a Gift

Every gift is valued and vital to the College Foundation, no matter how big or small. Giving is a legacy, providing the opportunity of an enriched St Augustine’s College education for all.

Gifts and donations are sought to raise funds to support a variety of building and capital projects and for the provision of means-tested bursaries. Bursaries are provided to assist those families who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend St Augustine’s College and is at the heart of an Augustinian education.

The Foundation will continue to seek philanthropic support for the ongoing development of the College for the benefit of all our students, both current and future. Gifts of all sizes and amounts can be pledged over several years or given as a single gift. All gifts are gratefully received and acknowledged.

All donations and gifts to the Foundation Building Fund, Bursary Fund and Ancillary Fund are fully tax-deductible.

Securing the Future

The College has grown from its humble beginnings of 65 students in 1956, but we continue to embrace quality boys’ education, Augustinian spirituality, Social Justice programmes, diverse and successful sporting and co-curricular activities and sophisticated technology.

Tuition fees and government funding cover most of the costs of your son's education. However, tuition fees do not provide all the funds needed to undertake ongoing major building projects and new capital works. The tax-deductible Foundation Building Fund is vital for the provision of any new buildings, projects and facilities.

The preservation and ongoing repairs, maintenance and improvements to existing College buildings are also serviced by the College Voluntary Building Fund. This tax-deductible voluntary contribution is available to current parents when paying the school fees.

The Foundation seeks philanthropic support for major building developments and campaigns, which is separate from the College Voluntary Building Fund.

In addition, the Foundation provides a Bursary Fund enabling our community to contribute towards future provision of bursaries to less fortunate students who qualify under the terms set out by the College Board.

Fr Dave Brimson OSA Bequest Program

Leaving your Legacy

Fr Brimson presided over the founding of the College as the first Rector. He was a much loved Augustinian priest, teacher and friend.

A bequest is a potential gift which can help transform our school and make a real difference for many years to come.
