The Role
As Business Systems Specialist, you will be a key member of the IT team with a strong focus on the effective configuration, optimisation and continuous improvement of the College’s school administration and business systems.
This role is less about traditional infrastructure management and more about ensuring systems are configured well, used effectively, and continue to evolve to meet the needs of staff, students and families. You will work closely with stakeholders across the College to understand operational requirements, translate them into practical system improvements, and deliver better outcomes through smarter workflows, integrations and system use.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Working closely with school administrators, operational leaders and system owners to understand needs, challenges and opportunities for improvement
- Leading the configuration, optimisation and continuous improvement of business-critical administration systems across SaaS and on‑premises platforms
- Designing and improving workflows, forms, permissions, notifications, business rules and related system settings
- Managing and prioritising a backlog of enhancements, configuration changes and improvement initiatives
- Identifying opportunities to improve data quality, reporting, visibility and process efficiency
- Supporting better integration and data flow between systems in the College’s digital ecosystem
- Liaising with software vendors and support partners to investigate issues, assess new functionality and coordinate upgrades or enhancements
- Providing second-level application support and assisting users to get the most out of systems
- Developing training materials, documentation and guidance to support adoption and consistency
- Applying sound change, testing, documentation and access management practices
- Participating in helpdesk rotation and providing support for College events and AV as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience working with business-critical applications, with a strong focus on configuration, optimisation and continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of system improvements end-to-end, including requirements translation, configuration, testing, implementation, and user adoption support
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into practical system solutions
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Experience managing and prioritising system enhancements using structured or agile delivery approaches
- Experience working with SaaS platforms and/or complex packaged applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on usability and service outcomes
Experience with school administration systems (such as Synergetic, Edval, SEQTA, Clipboard or similar), education environments, or system integrations is desirable but not essential.
