As we pack up the stage for another year, we look back on the past couple weeks of music. We are all proud of the success of all of the Musicians in our community. From the Year 5 student playing in front of an audience for the first time, to the Year 12 boys playing in front of their peers for the last time, to the staff band, excited to finally be part of the action, it really has been a Music Festival to remember. We thank the students for having the courage and passion to help them perform. We thank the tutors, teachers and conductors for facilitating their best possible performance. And we thank all the parents out there for their ongoing support of the Music at St Augustine’s College.
The boys of Junior Jazz are playing at the NSSWE Afternoon of Jazz on Sunday the 23rd of September. All students need to meet at the staircase outside the Chatswood Concourse (next to the water feature) at no later than 12:45. For all enquiries, please contact Amelia Granturco.
Due to the Year 8 and 9 camps, the Concert Band 1 rehearsal on Wednesday 19 September has been cancelled. There will be a rehearsal on the last week of term.
We are proud to announce that all of our Jazz groups at the College have been selected to perform at this year’s Manly Jazz Festival. The internationally acclaimed Manly Jazz is known worldwide for its beautiful location and the diversity of music it presents, from traditional New Orleans jazz to funk, Latin, fusion, blues, gospel, swing and roots - with performances in multiple indoor and outdoor venues including major stages alongside the world famous Manly Beach.
This year our boys will be performing in three locations:
Saturday 29th September @11AM Stage Band 2 (Stars of the Future stage)
Sunday 30th September @10AM Junior and Senior Jazz Ensemble (Roaming)
Monday 1st October @12:30PM Stage Band 1 (St Matthews Church)
Information notes have been sent home with students, if you require an electronic copy, please contact Joseph Montz.
