Welcome back to 2019. In particular, I would like to extend my welcome to all of the Year 7 students, as well as all of those new students we have in Years 8 through to Year 11. I hope that you have enjoyed your first week and feel as welcomed into the St Augustine community as I have. Over the next few weeks I look forward to meeting as many students as I can and getting to know the intricacies of this great school. I am excited to be working with your sons.

I would like to congratulate all the boys on their return to school last week. There was a real excitement to be back at school for the year and an eagerness to learn was on display. A thank you to parents who ensured that your sons were well groomed and had all that they needed to return to school in a positive way. Schools really do work much better when we all work together.

As you can imagine there is a lot happening throughout this term. Please take some time to check over the calendar to ensure that your son is aware of events taking place. In particular, those events that are compulsory.  

2018 Year Books

The 2018 Year Books have arrived and are ready for distribution to students. A copy will be given to the youngest sibling of a family who attended the College in 2018 at their next Year/House meeting.

If you have not received a copy by the end of next week, please contact Marcela Lyall, Leadership Assistant – Students on mlyall@saintaug.nsw.edu.au.  

Year 12, 2018 Graduates who do not currently have a younger sibling at the College, will be able to collect a copy of their book at the upcoming HSC Award Winners Assembly on Friday 22 February.

Alternatively, copies of the Year Book will also be available for collection from Student Services, during Term 1 in school hours.  Please note, Student Services is now located at 22 Alfred Road, next to the College main entrance.  

Vaccinations – 2019

Immunisation clinics will be held at the College to offer students vaccinations against preventable diseases. These clinics will be conducted by NSW Health nurses on the dates listed below:

Year 7 Vaccination kits will be distributed to students over the next few days. Could I ask parents to please complete the consent forms and return them to your son’s Tutor by 15 February. Please note, NSW Health has advised that they will not accept photocopied or scanned consent forms and the forms can only be valid with a parent signature.

Lunchtime Privileges

Students are not permitted to leave the College grounds and visit local shops during lunchtime, except Year 12. This is a privilege extended only to Year 12 students with the condition that their uniform and grooming are impeccable and that they return to the College by 1.35pm if they have afternoon classes.  

Year 11 Study Skills – Prue Salter

A reminder to students and parents that Prue Salter will be conducting a Year 11 Parent/Student Study Skills evening on Monday 11 February 2019 at 7.00pm in the Brimson hall. This is a compulsory event for students and it is an expectation that all Year 11 students attend in full summer uniform.  

Dr Prue Salter of Enhanced Learning will be presenting an interactive session for parents and students on how to work efficiently and effectively in the final years of school.  

This is a very important seminar aimed at assisting students’ in their preparation for the HSC.  

2018 HSC Award Winners Assembly

Parents of Year 12, 2018 students, please be aware that the HSC Award Winners Assembly will be held on Friday 22 February 2019 at 9.00am in the Brimson hall. There has been a date change from the tentative one advised in correspondence last year. Award winners will be directly invited via parent email.
