Year 7 Peer Support Program
Our Peer Support Program commenced on the first day of school this year, ensuring our new Year 7 cohort had the opportunity to get to know their new classmates and their Year 10 Peer Support Leaders.
Each fortnight in our Pastoral Period, groups of eight or nine Year 7 students will work with two Year 10 Peer Leaders and participate in a range of interactive activities in the anti-bullying module. Meeting in small groups allows meaningful connections to form, assisting students with the transition to secondary school. Through the eight sessions, students will learn about the behaviours that help build positive relationships and how to navigate the challenges that arise. This module fits within the ‘R’ element (Relationships) of the PERMA Model in our Positive Education approach to student wellbeing.
I would like to thank our Year 10 Leaders for attending school to run the sessions on the last day of their holidays. This highlights the character of these young men, who no doubt will be great mentors to our Year 7 students.
