Over the break, significant work has been undertaken with our new TAS classrooms completed. These wonderful classrooms afford our boys a purpose-built space to think, design and create. The Goold and Lecceto buildings have been reduced to their respective frames ready for a rebirth as bigger, lighter, flexible learning spaces. I look forward to seeing this take shape during the year. College Reception, Student Services, Sick Bay, the College Psychologists and the Uniform Shop have all now been relocated to Alfred Road into the chalets.
As noted in our commencement letter, tonight the All Parent Welcome Evening is being held. We hope that in the year we are celebrating our Augustinian value of Community that many of our families are in attendance. Whilst we have closed the booking for the purpose of catering, if per chance you have not sent an RSVP please go to the TryBooking page www.trybooking.com/ZWDX, as this will ensure a printed name badge is prepared.
Our first P&F Association meeting will be held on Thursday 21 February in the Augustine Resource Centre (ARC) located this year in the Clancy building above the College canteen. At this first meeting, we will provide a detailed analysis of our HSC results and our specific intentions around improvement for 2019.
A reminder that this year the Tolle Lege will be published fortnightly on a Friday. The cycle will commence next week as the first of the fortnightly publications.
I would like to finish by thanking families for their support with uniform and grooming. Only one young man saw the hairdresser this morning, and he had made an effort to improve the state of his haircut last night.
I look forward to the year ahead with great excitement. Our College has returned with a powerful energy. Our first College Assembly of the year was led by our Student Leaders who, with a number of video montages, have set a very high bar for expectations around student involvement in community.
Rest in Peace
Your prayers are requested for the Rankin and Perrin families following the recent passing of David Perrin last weekend, father of Austen Perrin (Class of 1980), grandfather to Michael Perrin (Class of 2009) and current students Sam Rankin (Year 11) and Jack Rankin (Year 8).
May the Lord welcome David into his kingdom of peace.
