On Saturday morning St Augustine’s College played their seventh-round match against St Andrew’s Cathedral School in the ISA Winter Tennis competition. We played at home again this week. The conditions were perfect for tennis with warming sunshine and not even the slightest of breezes. We had our full contingent of players available this week, so we had the opportunity to try out a few new doubles partnerships. The playing order was as follows: 1. Rick Andrews 2. Thiago Faria 3. Hugo Bryant 4. Paul Dracakis 5. Oscar McFarland. The boys arrived enthusiastically and played some entertaining tennis. There were many close games featuring long rallies and great shots from both sides of the net. The matches were enjoyed by parents of both teams from the perfect vantage point of the balcony just above the courts. Also, the morning tea provided by Saints parents was the icing on the cake for this feast of tennis. The final result was St Augustine’s College going down 3 sets to 5 sets.
Singles Matches:
Rick Andrews lost 3-6; Thiago Faria won 6-5; Hugo Bryant lost 3-6; Paul Dracakis lost 3-6
First Doubles:
