SENIOR ATHLETICS CARNIVAL YRS 8-12

The Senior Athletics Carnival is being held on Friday 29 June 2018 at the Sydney Academy of Sport & Recreation, Wakehurst Parkway, North Narrabeen.

This is a compulsory school day for all students. Students who do not attend for health reasons, must provide a medical certificate upon returning to the College. Students who are absent without a medical certificate will be placed on a Saturday detention in Term 3.  If the Carnival is cancelled due to the weather, normal classes will take place.

All students must come to school in the morning and then catch the College-organised buses to the Carnival. Senior students are not permitted to drive to or from the venue.  

Students may be dismissed directly from the Carnival at 2.30pm provided they have a note from their parents/guardians. Notes must be handed directly to Formation Leaders.

Boys may wear their full College Sports Uniform to and from school.

WATER POLO

Congratulations to the Senior Water Polo Team A in defeating Balgowlah in extra time 6-5.  It was an extremely exciting grand final as Balgowlah haven’t lost a game in 3 years.  Congratulations to the whole team.

BASKETBALL

Team 3 basketball starts on the afternoon of Monday July 23^rd (NOTE:  Students do not return to school until Tuesday July 24 so YEAR 7 teams will need to be organised).

Basketball Competition Draw

A Competition Draw will be available on the MWBA website: http://competitions.manlybaske... once the competition begins. Your team manager will contact you with your first match time once available (this may be only a short time before your first match).  Students must make their own way to and from games.  NBISC is close to the bus route on Pittwater Road and opposite Warriewood Square.

Training

There will one team training and one match per week.  The training schedule is attached to this email.  Team trainings will commence from Tuesday 24^th July.  Trainings are conducted at the PCYC indoor stadium, 40 Kingsway, Dee Why In the mornings 6.45-7.45am and at the College in Brimson gymnasium on the outdoor courts both in the morning and after school. The students training at PCYC will be expected use public transport to bus to the college at the completion of training (showers are available).  Students should aim to arrive on time to trainings and at least 15 minutes early to matches and each team has been allocated a coach to run trainings and matches.

Uniform

Students are expected to purchase team basketball shorts from the college Uniform Shop.  Please ask your son to collect his singlet at the appropriate day as outlined below:

Team singlets will be handed out NEXT term for the following teams:

• Tuesday July 24 in the Brimson.  Year Assembly – Year 8
  1pm – 1:15pm – Year 9

• Wednesday July 25 in the Brimson.  1pm – 1:15pm – Year 10 

Scoring

Each team is to provide a duty parent for the score table for all matches, a bench duty roster will be organised through your team manager.  Please make yourself available a link to the score table duties.

Sailing

Congratulations to Jake Barnabas who recently won both the State and National championships for the Flying 11 Sailing Class whilst representing Manly Skiff Club.
