RUGBY

Congratulations to Daniel Ala (Yr11) who recently played for the Australian Schoolboys team against Tonga and New Zealand Schools.  After some outstanding performances at this level, he has also been selected into the Australian Schoolboys and U18 Rugby Team to tour the UK in November this year.

FOOTBALL

Congratulations to Jake Hollman (Yr 11) who has been selected in the U19 Australian Schoolboys Football Team which will tour the UK for 3 weeks in January 2019. 

Congratulations to Luke Smyth (Yr9) on his recent success playing for the NSW Blues U14s State team at Nationals in Coffs Harbour.  In a tough competition, the team won their Group A and then went on to win Group B & C ensuring they were 14s Nationals Champions.

Football NSW Champions of Champions

Over the past month, the Saints 18 Division 1 Football Team have competed in the State Champion of Champions Tournament.  

On Monday 8th October, out at Valentine Sports Park, the team progressed through to the semi-final with a convincing win against South-Coast FC.  

On Sunday 14th October, the boys battled it out against East-Bankstown FC for a spot in the Grand Final. There was a strong performance in the first half leading 2-1 at half time. Unfortunately, the second half saw Bankstown come out with luck on their side and ultimately won the day 4-2.  

For a school side made up of year 11 and 12 students, to perform at this club level of soccer is an excellent achievement and we are so proud of the boys for making it to this level. Thank you to our wonderful parents who have supported the boys and coaches throughout the entire season. In particular, a massive thank you to Dave Anglican and Chris Gray for encouraging the team all season.  

SAILING

Congratulations to Daniel Links (Yr 8) who won the NSW Youth Championship in Lake Macquarie during the recent school holidays.

AFL

Congratulations to Max Toohey (Yr 8) on his recent performance at the State Zone Tournament with the Swans Academy during the holidays.

SUMMER SPORTS

Just a reminder that Summer Sports commence this week.  Futsal, Cricket, ISA Basketball, Water Polo, Swimming squad, Tennis squad, Rowing, Boxing Fitness.  

OLD BOYS

Congratulations to the following old boys who continue to excel in their chosen sports. 

Cricket

Mickey Edwards (2012) and brother Jack Edwards (2017) have been selected into the NSW Blues Men’s Cricket Team.  Jack in particular has had a great debut averaging 54.6 runs with a highest score of 116. 

Rugby

Max Douglas (2017) has been selected in the Australian Schoolboys and U18 Rugby Team

ROWING

Now we are in the swing of term 4, all training sessions are resuming as norming including all rowers in the College gym on Wednesday afternoons.

The elite crews rowed throughout the holidays including some work in the singles which gave coaching staff the ability and time to work on individual technique.  Following the on-water work, there were sessions of stretching/yoga/pilates or weights.  All strength and conditioning programs are designed to meet the needs of individual athletes and coaching staff are in constant contact with senior rowers throughout the holidays in terms of their individual training programs to ensure ongoing goals are being met. 

The Blessing of the Boats is on Saturday 20 October.  All rowing students are expected to attend in full sports uniform.  There will be a special welcoming presentation for the new students from the Captain of the Boats and Father Senan Ward will conduct the blessing of the vessels.
