Open Water Polo
Key dates:
Wednesday 19 February 2020 at Manly Boy Charlton Swim Centre 4pm-5pm
This is the swimming test component – including a 100 metres timed swim and timed swims over 25 metres with a water polo ball.
It is vital that everyone attends this session for grading purposes. We need to pick a 1st and a 2nd squad for the year and from past experience we will also have more boys who want to play than we have positions available.
A bus will take the boys to the pool straight after school and parents will need to make arrangements to collect their son from the pool at 5pm.
Monday 2 March AND Monday 9 March at Warringah Aquatic Centre 4pm-5pm
This is the water polo skill test component, which includes a range of individual water polo skills. It is also vital that boys attend this session to give them the best possible chance to be selected in the team.
A bus will take the boys to the pool straight after school and parents will need to make arrangements to collect their son from the pool at 5pm.
In selecting teams, the following criteria are used:
- Proven ability and skill in water polo – based on the above process
- Experience at club and representative water polo
- Swimming ability
- Past commitment to the St Augustine’s water polo – including training attendance, game attendance and whether or not a boy has previously withdrawn from a team mid-season
