19 September 2018
The boys of Junior Jazz are playing at the NSSWE Afternoon of Jazz on this Sunday the 23rd of September. All students need to meet at the staircase outside the Chatswood Concourse (next to the water feature) at no later than 12:45PM. Students should be in full winter uniform and are responsible for bringing their instruments. Guitarists will need to bring their own leads. For all enquiries, please contact Amelia Granturco.
Due to the Year 8 and 9 camps this week, there will be no Junior Jazz Rehearsal this week. Our next rehearsal is on the last day of term.
We just wanted to clarify our expectations on rehearsals:
Our Jazz groups at the College have been selected to perform at this year’s Manly Jazz Festival. The internationally acclaimed Manly Jazz is known worldwide for its beautiful location and the diversity of music it presents, from traditional New Orleans jazz to funk, Latin, fusion, blues, gospel, swing and roots - with performances in multiple indoor and outdoor venues including major stages alongside the world famous Manly Beach.
This year our boys will be performing in three locations:
Saturday 29th September @11AM Stage Band 2 (Stars of the Future stage)
Sunday 30th September @10AM Junior and Senior Jazz Ensemble (Roaming)
Monday 1st October @12:30PM Stage Band 1 (St Matthews Church)
Information notes have been sent home with students, if you require an electronic copy, please contact Joseph Montz.
Conductor Ralph Pyl has organised a special rehearsal with some of Australia’s biggest names in Big Band Jazz in preparation for the Manly Jazz performance. The rehearsal will run from 1PM-4PM on Saturday 29th of September.
The students of Concert Band 2 will be part of this year’s Band Integration Day. In this event, we invite all of the future St Augustine’s students to the College to enjoy a day of Music and mingling. Stay tuned for more information.
On October 30, we’re holding a concert dedicated to all of our talented singers. The concert will be held in the Auditorium from 6:30PM. All of our in-house vocal students are already involved, however, if your son would like to be part of this celebration of voice, please ask him to contact Joseph Montz in person or via Direqt Message.
