We have enjoyed a memorable few weeks together as a College community. Last Wednesday we gathered for the Year 11 Celebration of Excellence acknowledging the end of the Year 11 course and associated achievements. Students were recognised for their dedication, perseverance and commitment to studies, as well as for service within and beyond our community. These students would not have reached those high standards and received the acclaim they duly deserved without the support, dedication and commitment of their families, teachers and peers. We know that the support of families and teachers has a significant impact on student success, however, we also recognise that success comes from within. It is the belief in our own efforts along with a willingness to try for success, regardless of the outcome, that proves an invaluable cog in the wheel of continuous improvement and achievement.
On Friday we were joined by our 2019 Year 7 students for their Orientation Day. The boys enjoyed a variety of activities and met students within their new House and Tutor Groups. The day was an opportunity to begin the process of welcoming the new students into our Augustinian family. Our 2019 Student Leaders and Peer Support Leaders were on hand to ensure that each new student experienced a sense of connection and belonging. The smiles on their faces and the excitement in the air was something special and I am sure the boys will long remember their first taste of Augustinian welcome.
At 11:00am the whole College gathered in the Quadrangle along with our new students for 2019, in recognition of Remembrance Day. Students were led through a moving ceremony to commemorate 100 years since Armistice. As a community we prayed for peace in our world and paid tribute to those men and women who fought to protect our land and the Australian way of life. May we be peacemakers in our own lives and work towards harmony as we interact with those in our families, College and wider community.
The HSC officially concluded last Friday and we acknowledge the efforts of our Year 12 students who have worked diligently throughout the year. Students and families can often experience a mix of emotions around this time, excitement and even a sense of nervousness or anxiety regarding the unknown ‘next step’. We take this opportunity to farewell our graduating class of 2018 and wish them all the very best as they make their way beyond the school gates. May they always fondly remember their Augustinian family and know that God is with them on their journey as they grow into ‘gentle’ ‘men’, strong in faith and love as they make a difference in the world.
We invite our parent community to the P&F AGM this Thursday, November 15th at 7:00pm in the Principal's Office. All P&F Executive Committee positions will become available for 2019. Please let P&F President Emma Seward know if you are interested in taking on a role - pandf@saintaug.nsw.edu.au

Over the next couple of weeks, the College shifts gear with assessment schedules for our new Year 12 students, as well as exams for Year 7–9 students. Students are encouraged to make the most of their study time in preparation for these exams and revisit the study techniques learned throughout the year.
Our Year 10 students are winding down as the end of the year fast approaches. Students will be away on camp next week followed by Caritas week, where students will be actively serving in the wider community. We wish the Year 10 students an enriching time for both the outdoor education camp and their service week.
