Overview
Cricket at St Augustine’s College is available to students from Year 5 through Year 12, and is designed to cater to players of all abilities — from those new to the sport through to more experienced cricketers seeking regular competition.
Experienced and enthusiastic coaches support students as they develop their cricket skills throughout the season, with a focus on teamwork, skill development and enjoyment of the sport.
The cricket season is aligned with the College’s summer sport schedule, running across Term 4 and Term 1 of the following year. Training typically involves one afternoon per week, with final days and times set once teams and coaches are confirmed.
Program Structure
Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association (MWJCA)
During the summer season, many St Augustine’s College teams compete in the Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association competition. Matches are usually held on Saturday mornings and involve other local school and community teams from around the Northern Beaches region.
Independent Sporting Association (ISA) Competition
Selected senior teams also compete in the Independent Sporting Association (ISA) cricket competition, a structured Saturday sport program run by ISA for member schools across Sydney. This competition emphasises participation, school spirit, and development, providing a more formal inter‑school sporting environment.
Coaching & Development
St Augustine’s College’s cricket program benefits from dedicated coaching staff and specialist coaches passionate about student sport. The focus is on helping students improve their batting, bowling, fielding and tactical understanding in a supportive and inclusive environment, regardless of prior experience.
Training schedules may include afternoon sessions during the school week and match play on Saturdays throughout the season.
Program Philosophy
Cricket at the College is part of a broader philosophy that values sport not only for competition, but also for personal growth, teamwork and resilience. Participation in cricket helps students learn time management, cooperation, perseverance and leadership — key life skills that complement academic and personal development.
