Each year the College carefully reviews our HSC results against a comprehensive data set that allows us to determine how a cohort performs. Our Graduating Class of 2023 represents a rich and diverse range of students all exploring pathways that utilise their strengths. We are exceptionally proud of the graduating class as they move into the next stage of their lives, whether it is a gap year, apprenticeship, the workforce, or tertiary studies.

It is easy to see evidence of exceptional achievements, such as our College Captain Max Martin attaining an ATAR of 99.95 whilst part of the Senior play, placing in the top 10 in State in two subjects, and being nominated for OnSTAGE. What is less obvious is the enormous amount of hard work and commitment to excellence that all students have shown.

The achievement is not in a narrow band of high-performance subjects like Mathematics, rather it is across an incredibly broad range of subjects. We have seen the College ranking top 10 in the State in English Studies, 19th in Standard Mathematics, 23rd in Industrial Technology – Timber, 26th in Modern History, and top 30 in Visual Arts, Mathematics Extension 1 and Studies of Religion. With 800 schools in NSW, and thousands of students studying in selective schools, our results continue to show evidence of the hard work and commitment of staff and students as learners. We are proudly a comprehensive boys’ school which does not offer academic scholarships to slue results, nor do we limit academic pathways.

In 2023, the College saw success in the creative arts with 9 HSC Showcase nominations in Visual Arts, Music, Industrial Technology, Design and Technology, and an outstanding 11 nominations and selections in Drama. These students invest hundreds of hours into areas of learning they are passionate about, crafting their performances, developing their bodies of works or building their projects. We take great pride that our HSC students sought feedback, listened to advice, and did not give up when learning was difficult or when circumstances became challenging. These are life skills that will serve our graduates well as they move beyond school.

“Our Graduating Class of 2023 are a group of young men who have demonstrated a commitment to the values of the College. They have achieved their best and have found their way forward into preferred pathways, as a result of the community support and the cultural intensity present in our school. Our HSC high achievers represent only the smallest part of the excellence that existed within this cohort of fine men.”

“Success comes in countless forms, and we are especially pleased that many of our boys achieved beyond original hopes and expectations. Their success has been achieved through their application, dedication, and hard work, with the significant support of their family. Of course, none of this success is possible without the highest quality teaching staff and we thank all the staff for their dedication and expert guidance. To the Class of 2023, we say, well done and best wishes as you launch into the world, along a road less travelled.”
John Laforest, Deputy Principal - Academic
