Media Statement dated 29 September 2025 following a teacher being charged at Manly Court today
Please quote the following in full and attribute to the Principal of St Augustine’s College, Jonathan Byrne:
“The College has been working with Police and authorities on a matter which has resulted in a former teacher being charged with child sex offences. The College is deeply saddened by this breach of trust and the impact it has on the community.
Upon becoming aware of the allegations, the College immediately notified Police and regulatory authorities, and immediately stood down then subsequently terminated the teacher’s employment.
We continue to work with Police and relevant authorities and, in the meantime, our focus is on ensuring the privacy and wellbeing of the impacted family and our broader community.”
