Rowing NSW State Championships 16/2/2018 – 18/2/2018

St Augustine’s Rowing Club athletes competed at the Sydney International Regatta Centre last weekend and recorded some impressive results. Most notably our senior Rowers became NSW State Champions in the Under 19 and Under 21 Quad sculls event. Connor Hopkins (17 years), Torben Ungemach (16 years) and Nikolas Pender (15 years) powered through the course to win by three seconds (1 boat length) over their nearest rivals in the under 21 event.

Strong results in our Year 10 Eight (4th in the under 17 Eights event) and a bronze medal for Tom Gerrans in the Under 16 single scull bolstered the enthusiasm around the spectators tent and the trailer. Tom also placed third in the Year 9 quad bagging himself two ‘gongs’ (rowing parlance for medals) for the day.

This weekend we have a double header at SIRC with our year 10 Eight racing in the Schoolboy Eights event in the Sydney Rowing Club Regatta on Saturday and the Schoolboy Head of the River on Sunday.
