Wellbeing Check-in Surveys
An overwhelming number of parents responded to our most recent Wellbeing Check-in Survey, supporting the ZOOM-free days. It was quite loud and clear that the ZOOM-free days are beneficial to families as a whole, giving them time together and was also seen as a reward to the boys after working extremely hard on their lessons via ZOOM.
Here are a few of your comments:
“We support the zoom free days as it means I can spend some time with him on these days going for a walk in the morning before he gets stuck into any schoolwork and can encourage him to come out of his room.”
“The boys are learning valuable skills of managing time and workload, with the extra time available in their day. Zoom free days are particularly appreciated for this.”
“As a family we feel the zoom free day is a fundamentally important part of the week for the well being of my son and the family. Zoom free days are a reward for him during these COVID times and a reward for his efforts and commitment to remote learning. It gives him spark and motivation for the rest of the week.”
The next ZOOM-free day for Term 3 is Wednesday 15 September 2021. The boys will be expected to still attend ZOOM Tutor Group in the morning. They will then be required, ZOOM free, to complete set work and submit following their teacher’s instruction.
A fiver for a farmer
Jack Berne is the founder of A fiver for a farmer, recipient of a 2020 Australia Day award for Outstanding Community Service, mini celebrity who featured on Melissa McCarthy’s American talk-back show Little Big Shots, as well as numerous Australian television and radio appearances, but most importantly our very own Year 7 Saints student.
Jack continues on his mission to support our farmers by encouraging everyone to buy local and in season. He also runs an annual fundraiser to help farmers in need of financial assistance following years of drought, fires, floods and the most recent mouse plague.
This year, the College is running A fiver for a farmer day on Thursday 16 September 2021 with the following activities planned:
- Students are encouraged to wear an Akubra hat or flannel shirt to all ZOOM lessons
- Custom made A fiver for a farmer virtual backgrounds are on offer for all students to use and enjoy on the day
- Access to the A fiver for a farmer raffle which has over $15k in prizes.
