2019 Peer Support Leaders
In our most recent College Assembly, we acknowledged the commitment of the Year 10 students to the Peer Support Program that concluded this term. The boys gained valuable leadership experience as well as participating in over ten hours of service. The leaders displayed signature character strengths such as leadership, teamwork, patience and kindness throughout the initiative as well as developing some of their other strengths. No doubt after running the sessions the boys now have a better understanding of the life of a teacher! The program also assisted our Year 7 students with the challenging transition into secondary school and ensured that every Year 7 boy now has a connection with at least two senior students. Thank you and congratulations to the following Year 10 Peer Support Leaders:

This month on SchoolTV - Positive Parenting
Despite the best efforts of parents around the world, the reality is, there is no such thing as the ‘perfect parent’. However, arming yourself with the right information is a good start!
Research shows, that one of the most important protective factors in the lives of young people is a close relationship with a supportive adult. With the mental health of today’s young people being at an all-time low, it is simply not enough to parent effectively. Parents need to familiarise themselves with practical skills, knowledge and strategies when it comes to raising children.
Many parents today are over-protective, resulting in children being less independent, unable to problem-solve or self-regulate. Some parents are failing to set clear boundaries, which is unfortunately making children feel less secure. In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn what is the best approach for primary and secondary school aged children. We hope you are able to explore the information offered in this month’s edition, and we always welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school or seek medical or professional help.
