The third year of the Principal’s Poetry Prize has built on the success of the prior competitions with many students crafting insightful poems on the COVID-19 inspired theme: “Lockdown” and the 2020 College theme: “Humility.” During the last two weeks of Term 2, the finalists for the Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Principal’s Poetry competitions gathered in the College Board Room to share lunch and read their poems aloud to Mr Byrne and members of the English Faculty.
Each student who submitted a poem, of at least 12 lines in length, on the competition themes received House points that contributed towards The Bishop’s Shield whilst the finalists, runners up and winners were awarded additional points.
The winner and the runner-up for each competition will be presented at a College Assembly in Term 3.
