Trust the past to the Mercy of God, the present to His Love, and the future to His Providence.    Saint Augustine

Graduation Day

Last Thursday morning we started the day with the Class of 2019 in Augustinian fashion; coming together for a moment’s reflection and wonder. Senior College Leaders and House Formation Leaders shared breakfast with these young men as they reconciled the realities of their graduation day. Before their families, friends and school each boy was recognised at College Assembly and in a more intimate way by the Formation Leaders and Tutors in their House Assemblies. The families joined us for morning tea; a simple gesture but an endearing aspect of the way St Augustine’s College evidences our understanding of the importance of community and sharing in the success of others. It is the enduring friendships that not just students, but that their parents will also take away from Saints, canteen duties, taxi services to sporting events, early-morning drop-offs or late evening pick-ups for rehearsals, practices and performances. Congratulations to the Class of 2019, our new Augustinian Graduates, and their Student Leadership team, as a group they have continued to shape and develop the culture of our school. These young men move into the world curious, creative and critical thinkers. At the beginning of the year, this group arrived at a College slogan: Stand, Serve, Strive Together; a simple but powerful sense of our school. They have as a cohort exemplified this simple phrase. The presence at College events has set an example, and a tireless commitment to improving their school has been evident in every area of College life.

As a College community, we ask for your ongoing prayers as our Year 12 cohort maximise their last two weeks study and preparation time prior to the HSC Examinations.

Following what was a highly successful Graduation day, today we installed our new 2020 Student Leaders. Their parents joined us at a College Assembly and pinned their sons with their leadership badges. Our new leaders have taken a pledge, just as the departing leaders did to lead their school with distinction and pride.

With the term break here already, a brief reminder that students will return in Term 4 in summer uniform. I hope that you make some space in the next two weeks to spend time with your family, valuing who they are, what they contribute and enjoy the company and companionship as a family, as part of our Augustinian family.
