College Jumper
During Term 2, a Staff Uniform Committee convened to discuss the student College uniform. Some ideas and recommendations have been made following feedback from the College community. The first item raised is the College woollen jumper. Many students have found it to be itchy and are therefore not purchasing the jumper.
We are currently awaiting quotes for a cotton blend, non-irritating version. We are also looking at a change of colour to black with the College crest on the left side (see image below). Some members of the P&F Association, as well as our Student Leadership Team and the Student Representative Council have provided positive feedback on this new look, which is quite smart underneath the Senior black blazer and Years 5 – 9 grey blazer.
Due diligence will be applied in selecting a company with quality, availability and price comparisons, so that you may purchase a long-lasting, well made jumper at a competitive price. With this in mind, it will take time to make the black jumper available, and with unavailable stock of the current green jumper, students may on cold days wear his sport jacket UNDER his blazer until supplies of the new black jumper arrive. Students will be required to see the relevant Formation Leader to obtain a Uniform Pass. No other replacement garment is to be worn, such as hoodies.
Please note, when the new College jumpers become available, students can continue to wear their green jumpers.

School Liaison Police student presentation
This week, Senior Constable Darren Cairnes who works with Chatswood Police and is the School Liaison Officer for the Northern Beaches, presented to Year 7 students about responsible decision-making.
Darren has many years of experience working with the Police and addressed several key areas of concern. These included cyber bullying, safety at night, responsible decision-making and the possible implications of poor decisions. These are challenges which teenage boys regularly face during their development into adulthood. The aim of the presentation was to equip them with the knowledge to help them navigate these issues as they arise.
Darren was effective in creating an awareness of various Police procedures and gave real life stories of the consequences of certain decisions. He also highlighted how their choices may affect family, friends and the wider community.
Darren's presentation is sure to reinforce wise decisions in technology usage, personal safety and the treatment of others in the community.
Family Holidays
Monitoring student attendance and the documentation required for processing student absences is a responsibility all schools must oversee in order to remain within the legislative requirements for attendance and maintain school registration.
The College must follow the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) guidelines in relation to the NSW Education Act (1990), where families are asked to undertake travel during the school holiday periods. As such, if a student is absent during the school term in order to go on a family holiday, this leave will be noted as an Unapproved absence. However, exceptional circumstances are taken into account and all leave applications are considered separately. Supporting documentation assists the Principal in the approval process.
Thank you for your understanding and please keep the Term dates below in mind when organising family events:
